Fun

Sweet Life Music Festival in 2012 was one of the highlights of my senior year of high school. While I spent my freshman year at College of Charleston in South Carolina, I found myself on summer break and back in Baltimore in time to attend Sweet Life 2013.
I rode down with a few friends, and we all walked from the parking lot into Merriweather Post Pavilion to the sounds of Lindsey Stirling. While her set was amazing, as Gary Clark Jr took the stage the weather took a turn for the worst. Rain started pouring and the few friends I was with were quickly disappearing. The seniors in high school were making the most of the rain, stripping down to shorts and turning the grass hill into a makeshift mud slip-and-slide.

Our crew did not have the same energy or enthusiasm for the inclement weather, and it wasn’t long before we decided to head out. This day was a bust, but I believed was headed to Bonnaroo in a week so I was ok with taking it easy and conserving my energy. Pheonix would be there too!
Unfortunately, a few days later I had to cancel my trip to Bonnaroo. I finally saw Pheonix perform live for the first time in 2019, over 6 years later. From this experience, I learned a valuable lesson. My group could make or break the event. Anyone can have fun in the sunshine. Everything changes when it rains.
