My introduction to the festival world officially began at Starscape Music Festival. This was a one-day EDM event located under the Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland. Music started at 2 pm and sets were scheduled all night long until 6 am the following morning.
I was still in high school, so my Dad drove me and a few friends down, dropping us off around 3 pm. Several high school friends were in attendance, and it wasn’t long before we had pulled together a decent crew. We were all extremely new to the festival scene and everyone stayed together in one big group.
My favorite sets of the night occurred at the Beach Stage, where Borgore opened up for Skrillex, followed by Flux Pavilion. It was a beautiful summer night in Baltimore. I loved the packed crowds, loud music, insane production, and overall energy.

Near the end of the night, we made our way up close for Steve Aoki. This set was amazing! I dodged cake, got sprayed with champagne, and had an absolute blast. We had to leave the show early, as my Dad was picking us up at 3:30 am. I couldn’t believe it was that late already. I knew I had the energy to go all night, and it wouldn’t be long until I would return to a music festival.
